OKRA-HOMA!

Posted in The Latest at 8:03 am by Jules

Two confessions here.

#1. I don’t like Oklahoma. I know, I know… this is not news, but, the realization I had yesterday is that I go out of my way to find things about Oklahoma that I don’t like and, given the tiniest provocation, quickly add it to my ever growing list of “reasons why I don’t want to be here”.

#2. I have a deep rooted mistrust of men. It’s been my experience that unless you’re related to me, somewhere sometime you as a man are going to cross “the line”- and to me, that means that you never were my “friend” as you had other intentions all along. My general modus operandi where men are concerned is that I’m either fucking them or “fuck them!”. Again, if you know me, not a earth shattering declaration. I’m not saying that I can’t get along with men, I do, but as far as having men as friends, really really good friends, I don’t.

All of that being thrown up on the internet- yesterday I had fun in Oklahoma with my guy friend Mike. Mike went to high school with my soon to be ex husband, so I’ve known him for awhile. Boundaries are established. He’s scouting locations for a documentary film and asked me to go along. Dudes- it was so much fun!!! Look at some of the pictures I took.

I knew it was going to be a good day when I saw this most comical horse. It’s called Stretch as it’s legs are too long for it to eat normally and it has to get into these crazee horse yoga poses to get to grass.

Yee-Haw! Off roadin’ in a bright orange 4 wheel drive jeep! I’m still not used to dirt being red, however.

Here’s another shot of the beautimous country side… and the jeep… and Bobby- who reminded me so much of my dad that it made me want to hug him.

Even the ponds are red.

My water supply- Lake Thunderbird. Shall I link the most recent dead body they found in it?

Note to self, purchase large ax and come back for THIS tree in early December.

Lawdy- it’s purty.

Real purty.

I even saw a beaver pond. NO BEAVER, however.

Hats off and a giant thank you to Mike.

Are the horse’s legs too long, or is its neck too short?

    Something to think about.

That does look purty (Who knew there was anything pretty in Oklahoma? Not I.). And the weather look geeeeargous. Glad you got to get out and have some fun.

I didn’t like Oklahoma either. Especially the people i had to work with in OKC at one job I had at a museum. Insular, spoiled “society people” who wouldn’t know good manners or true society if it bit them in the ass. Snobs who had no reason to be. Horrible.

I went back to Texas just to keep my Texas plates and license while i lived there. No WAY was I gonna have an OK plate on MY car.

But I did think Oklahoma was pretty and still do.

    She was born…..in Oklahoma…..

    sigh. That’s me.

P.S. all that red water/mud/dust is a bitch– yes? My advice is to avoid anything white.

I liked Oklahoma - didn’t have any reason to stay - but sure enjoyed my two years there - oh my - yes - museum-people ARE like that - anyone who’s into art from that angle is strange to me …but then…i’m only into it for the money and fame.

Glad you were able to enjoy an outing with a male friend. I have some and they are quite nice - but like any friend and certainly any man…they can be jerks and one minute demand too much and the next leave you feeling abandoned…if it looks like a human and it sounds like a human and it walks like a human…chances are it’s loaded with flaws - sex or no sex.

DANG. ( i love that word)

I agree. Dirt should be brown, and mud should be black, and water should never be red.
